What "something big" are you expecting this year 2009?

Big Mak Blog Contest I had been a teacher for more than a decade already. I taught in the public and private schools alike. At first, I wanted to be a musician or to be get a Bachelor's Degree in Music but something big happened. I took up a Bachelor's Degree in Education because a degree in Music was not available in the college where I enrolled. But I was able to join a college choir and became a Glee Club member for the four years that I was studying. We had been to different places and sang songs to different people or groups. And something big happened to us as members of WNC Glee Club (WNC stands for West Negros College but now it is known as WNU -West Negros University). We were able to join the NAMCYA (National Music Competitions for Young Artists) at CCP Manila, Phil. and won second place nationwide. That was a great experience we have had when I was still in college. Something big for me this year is quite different from the young ones. I had a lot of experiences in the past that made me a better person. I had taken my post graduate studies when I was still working in the Phil. but wasn't able to take the exam because we were led to another phase of life. And that's where we are now, where God leads us. As what I have said, I had experienced "Big Events" (something big) from the past until now that proves the greatness of our God. There's another big event that happened to us recently when we were in the Phil. and I can prove "How Great our God is" you can check the details in my other blog at Miracles Do Happen in my other blog. In connection with this "something big" I joined the biggest blog contest for 2009 entitled "Big Mak Blog Contest" and they have prizes at stake: Big Mak Blog Contest WHO WILL WIN AND WHAT ARE THE PRIZES? GRAND PRIZE: Winners for the first five grand prizes will be determined by points. The first five bloggers who have the highest points will win. The Inconvenience of Technology

Last month I started making and preparing lessons for our English Summer Workshop at the center. I kept all my files and records inside the computer. I recorded all the things needed for the workshop such as the lessons for levels 1 and 2, crafts to be done by the students, games, and other English activities. I was shocked last week when I can't open our computer then we asked our manager if we can send it to the shop for check up. It was found out that it has a lot of viruses and the files can't be saved anymore. Sometimes, computers and other technology are helpful to many users but at times it gives stress and hard times. That happens to me today. When I knew that all the files were lost I felt bad. Everything was lost in the computers, all the files were deleted because it can't be fixed anymore and the files cannot be retrieved. I started doing it again for the second time. It's a waste of time and effort but anyway, I've learned a lesson not to use that computer anymore.

Yummy Sunday #1

Every Sunday we usually attend Thai services. We find it more interesting although we could not fully understand the language. For us it's more fantastic and our sons wanted to go there every Sunday. For a couple of weeks, I'd been craving for a Thai food, they call "Ratna." When we went to the church I was so glad because they prepared the food I was craving the past weeks. It's their custom to prepare food on Sundays, then right after the service, everyone will join the group for lunch. Thai food are really great and spicy of course but tastes good. You will really amazed how they cook with all the spices!

Language Barriers

Last Monday as what I have mentioned in my other post, we went to a Technology School to promote our center. There are a lot of private schools involved. Each school presented a program. We had our presentation on the first day. Almost everybody came on that day. On the second day, I met one of the teachers in the school where I worked a year ago. She looked at our promotions and smiled. I told her I'm already working in this center. She is a Thai and she had the difficulty in speaking English. She was asking a lot of questions and I'll just say yes or smiled at her because I couldn't understand the way she speaks. Before they left with her friend, she told me, "Oh Sarah you are rich now", I just laughed and told her "NO". Then they left, I started to smile and I reiterate what she said to my hubby that we are rich, and I told him, if she only knew. Then my teenager smiled and said, because Mama you agreed to her when she asked you that you are the owner of the center. I said, "Really???" with a shocking voice. I didn't understand what she said, I told my teenager. I was planning to explain again but I didn't bother anymore. They might misunderstood me again. Language barrier had been our struggle here in Thailand, a lot of times we were misunderstood especially when we talk to the locals. But still we enjoy the place, the food, and the people. To find the meaning of language barrier you can visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language_barrier

Open House Promotions

Promotions are not easy. It takes hard time, giving yourself into it, and giving up your other needs. That's what we did since yesterday until tomorrow. We were having an Open House activity. All private schools and technologies all over the city will do some promotions for their own school. And students were brought by their teachers to see the different promotions designed by each school. On the first day, that was last Monday, our Thai manager did some promotions on stage with other schools, each school will represent a show or something to promote the school. While surfing the net the other day I found out about advertising and promotions. Our manager did the same. He looks different with a funny face. You really need to do something to attract the attention of the students. So, each school has its own role to play. We gave out brochures to students and invited to do some activities we prepared for them and gave out gifts. It's fun, though the place was so hot yet were able to manage. It's a great day today!

When I started to blog and learned the idea of it, I come across this site web hosting. At first, I find it hard to analyze why many sites are using this. Later, I understand the importance of it. Knowing more about web hosting can help websites accessible to all. I as continue to surf in the internet, I found this web hosting site, and they provide free web hosting give away and free web hosting features. Now adays using the internet is not a luxury anymore. It's becoming cheaper and people get easily attached to it. Lovers' Day Journey

Last week my hubby mentioned about Valentine's Day in his talk and I never thought that it's coming sooner and now is the day. Days fly so fast that we can't stop growing older each day. Anyway, today is for lovers to enjoy. I remember when I was still studying in college and my hubby was just courting me that time. Everyday, he would bring anything like something to eat, a piece of rose, a short letter or a picture of something. And more so, during Valentine's Day, he would bring something special. So "kilig", right? That's how he took my heart. Those were the days I always recall and told him sometimes, but then he would just laugh... I could relate to most of the lovers because I had somewhat like the same experience. Most lovers are "kilig to the bones" that means they are so happy and excited all the time, every minute of the day. I believe everyone had passed through that, whether unexpressed emotions or suppressed feelings or whatever. That's the beauty of love! Yet the love of the Father is so great that He sent Jesus to die on our behalf. That's another kind of love that is unfathomable and unconditional! May we always remember His Great Love and thank Him!

Shocking Moment

Yesterday, early morning, we sent our friends to the airport, they're going to Bangkok, then back to the Phil. It was our first time going to the airport after we went back to Thailand. We bid goodbye then went back to the center because my hubby and the company will be going to a school where we have extension classes. It's 1 and a half hours away from the city. But I (with our sons) stayed in the center because I have classes. When they went back, my hubby shared to us about something that happened on their way back home. While they were traveling back from the school, they were sharing and talking about something and suddenly, an army car bumped their car, it was so fast, that all of them inside the car were shocked. Thank God, there was no car passing, and immediately my hubby moved on the side and looked at the car because he was the one driving. Only the side mirror was scratched, and everyone was safe. It's good to say a prayer before going anywhere for protection and safety.

My Teenager

The past few weeks I had a lot of struggles regarding my son who is becoming a teenager. It seems that his attitude is becoming different day after day. I do believe, during this stage a father's image and guidance are very necessary in their growing up stage. And I thank God for fathers who are really needed for the training of children and that includes my beloved sweetie. I always remember our human father when we were still small children. He would always remind us of these verses in the Holy Book that says: Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will depart from it. It is really true, if we fail to train our child, their future will not be as better as we expect. Another verse was: Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. These verses were just taken for granted by some but has a greater meaning if we only obey... I believe, parents now a days would really agree to the different personalities of our children. Every stage needs a deeper understanding of who they really are and how we react as parents to different situations or characteristics they are showing and many times they were trapped by these new generation's images...they would easily linked if we are not careful as parents to guide them in the ways of the Lord. However, there are a lot of sites like thomas nelson or other reading materials about growing kids but the best thing for me is to trust the Lord and PRAY earnestly for our kids. Only God can change them..
